The skin is a truly remarkable organ. Every single person’s skin plays host to supporting its own ecosystem filled with billions of microorganisms. Despite the slightly freaky sound of that, without all of these microorganisms and proper skin care and hygiene, you could easily fall prey to a host of varying infections and skin diseases.
Proper hygiene has become an absolute necessity to keep in good standing with social circles and when pursuing romantic interests. Something as simple as body odor actually rears its ugly head because the skin is constantly sloughing off dead skin cells. These cells then mix in with the sweat, and other secretions as well as any dirt on the skin. The natural bacteria that are living on your skin will then decompose this lovely mixture which then produces a completely awful smell. For this fact alone it’s important to wash regularly to prevent this nasty, smelly buildup.
Proper skin care, particularly shielding it from harsh UV rays has evolved greatly over the past few decades. It used not to be a big deal to lay out by the pool all day, soaking in the sun. The poor souls who took advantage of this freedom are now paying the price with developing skin cancers. It’s important to keep sun screen on with adequate UV protection to prevent this from happening to you. Whenever you are in the sun for medium to long periods of time, it’s never a bad idea to apply some sun screen; it can really save your life down the road.
The largest organ on your body is going to be susceptible to huge array of different skin conditions. While some may offer just a minor inconvenience, there are many others that are seriously life threatening. If you stay out in the sun a short while longer than you should have, may leave your skin red in color and carrying a higher sensitivity than normal, falling asleep outside for a couple hours may leave you with third degree burns across your exposed areas. These burns will be extremely painful and typically will form large fluid filled blisters.
Be sure to keep your skin covered up as best you can when visiting places that could leave it accessible to bugs. Bug bites have been long since known to cause great discomfort and even death in some cases due to skin complications after the patient has been bitten. It may be near impossible to protect yourself from all the mad creatures looking to take advantage of your skin. Scabies for example is an extremely contagious skin disease which is caused by a very small mite. Scabies will leave you in pain and itching for several days.
Be aware of what you are exposing your largest organ to. Keeping proper skin care and hygiene will ensure that your body always smells fresh and it is protected from the many elements and creatures out there that seem to be hell bent on getting to you and launching their attack on your skin.
